Thank you and good-night!

Thanks to everyone who “came out” for the big event this evening and to those who are catching up in their respective timezones🙂

Winners, be sure to right-click and SAVE your banners then upload them to your own space – don’t hotlink them! Also, when you post them on AC, keep them out of your summaries and post them instead inside your author’s notes.

Thank you again to Hannah who was kind enough to do the banners again this year, to the people who sent in nominations then came back and cast their votes – although there may not have been very many of you this year, that doesn’t mean we don’t appreciate your participation.

Although Felix is taking a relaxing vacation after this season, I hope to one day see it back and full of your great work! Who knows, there might even be a Felix 2013 this fall🙂

He had stepped onto the bus excitedly, but froze when he saw Brian at the kitchen table. He was just sitting there, staring at the sixteen thousand dollar pair of shoes. He had a look on his face that Nick couldn’t read. It almost looked like the same look he wore whenever Leighanne wore a low cut top.

But that couldn’t be right.

“Rok?” Nick asked nervously, stepping towards him.

Brian looked up at Nick, but he still looked deep in thought. It seemed as though he was somewhere else.

“What’re you doing?” Nick asked, sitting down at the table across from him.

Brian continued to stare at the shoes that were resting on the table in between the two men. It seemed like he was in a trance.

Nick reached into his pocket. “I have the note The Goose left me last night, though,” he suggested, fishing it out and frantically thrusting it towards Kevin. “That’s evidence, isn’t it?”

Kevin took it and raised an eyebrow. “You’re going to great lengths for this one, Carter.”

“Great lengths? Kev, it’s REAL.”

“Yup,” Kevin nodded back to Nick, “OK then.”

Howie, AJ, and Brian wandered into the lobby as Nick moped and put away the note, folding it carefully, and slipping it back into the pocket he’d drawn it from. Kevin raised his paper as AJ and Howie sat down between Nick and Kristin, and Brian opted to toast a bagel before joining them. AJ elbowed Nick. “Hey Shithead. What the hell’re you doin’ up so early?”

“The mob is trying to kill him,” Kevin said dryly from behind the Times.

AJ laughed. “Still? You’d think they’d be over it by now. What’d you do to piss’em off? Wait. Let me guess. He’s a REALLY big fan of the Simple Life and just read some back issues of the Post?”

Kevin smiled. “Hey c’mon, go easy on him, he’s very sensitive about it.”

“Thank you, Kevin,” Nick nodded appreciatively.

“It’s not his fault he’s lost his marbles.”

I ran a hand through my hair, feeling the stiffness of the gel I hadn’t washed out the night before. It had been a club night. It was an ‘I’m thirty-one years old, single, and partying my brains out in L.A. with Donnie Wahlberg kind of night.’ It was–

“Ahh bababa cogh.”

The noise seemed to come out of nowhere…unti l I looked down. The moment I did, I quickly looked back up. I looked right. Then I looked left as far as I could.

“Hm ka pa?”

I looked back down. It stared up at me, a big line of drool traveling down its face. The tequila shots from last night threatened to come back up.

It was a practical joke. It was a fake baby. Fake drool. Some dipshit kid had infiltrated our bus haven and left his home economics project on my door-er-bus step. Maybe the thing would run out of batteries. Maybe–

“Fo wa qat.”

A chubby hand grabbed at something sticking up out of the carseat. It looked like a note of some sort. The baby brought it to its mouth and began to chew on the corner, producing even more drool. I thought I was going to faint. There was only one word, written in black, on the front.

All it said was…

Nick.

“I’m so sorry Nick,” Brian said, his voice shaking. “I’m so sorry for everything. I’m sorry the tour had to be cancelled, and I’m so sorry that the group had to go on hiatus again. And Leigh…” he couldn’t contain his tears any longer.

Nick moved to sit beside Brian on the bed. He rubbed his friend’s back, not even caring about how awkward he usually felt in situations such as these. “Don’t even worry about her, man. Just worry about you. Me and the rest of the guys are going to be here for you. Hell, we are here for you. And when you get out of this place, we’ll be ready and waiting to record again and go back on the road.”

Brian nodded and pulled Nick in for a hug. “Thank you, Nick. I was just under so much stress, you know? Something snapped in my brain… I didn’t know who I was or what I was doing. I dealt with it… in such a poor way.”

“You ate our shoes, Brian…” Nick deadpanned, unable to stop himself.

And the winner is…

There was a noise to my right and I tried to turn to look but the most blinding pain wrecked through my body as I attempted to turn my head. I felt trapped, and threatened, and the sound on my right seemed louder and closer and stuff and I struggled, trying to move, but I felt like I was strapped to the chair, unable to move. I fought against my bindings, but my every move burned through me. My head felt like it was being used as a kick drum.

It was a pain like I’d never, ever, ever felt in all my life before. A burning, tearing sensation and I let out a roar of agony, unable to choke back the reaction to the pain. “Oh fuck,” I sobbed, “Fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck-fuck!” Tears dripped down from my eye ducts, each one burning as they ran across my face. My face felt raw. I reached my hands – my abnormally long hands – and pressed them to my face gently, each cell of contact aching so badly I clenched my teeth. When I pulled my hands away, they were covered in blood.

I panicked.

Like so bad.
